The Dolphins at Monkey Mia

Monkey Mia is a world heritage sight up on Shark Bay. It is the resort, basically as far west as you can go in Australia. It started about fifty years ago when a woman started feeding the dolphins off the back of here fishing boat, which lead to everyone feeding them. Of course!! They were getting fed everything, apparently even Vegemite sandwiches. Probably children who would rather go hungry feeding them those. Now it is all regulated. They are fed only by the resort, and a max of three times a day and only up to 500 grams of fish. That's a third of their daily diet. Only five females get fed. I even got to see two week old babies. They pick people from the crowd to feed the dolphins and I got picked one morning to feed puck. So much fun!!! Dolphins bellies go pink they they are happy and these dolphins get spots as they age. They can tell the difference between the dolphins by their fins. Okay, I know what you are all thinking. Quit typing and show us pictures.

Monkey Mia

Well, the four of us continued our trip up the west coast to Shell Beach on Shark Bay. It is a beach that stretches for kilometers and is made up of entirely cockle shells. All these white shells!! And crystal clear warm water. Pearce Pack, not sure if you can make out the message to you!!!

It is me again!!

Well, as several people have pointed out, it has been awhile since my last post. I apologize for that. I appear to have been busy getting some traveling in, and then a malfunctioning app. I think I have it sorted out. I will start with my trip up to Monkey Mia. Piled a whole bunch of stuff and four people into a car. We did the drive to the pinnacles, which are ancient rock formations made of limestone. So cool to see. It was just the beginning of our trip, where we spent our first night camping and cooking in the dark. Appears I am the only one with body heat and the only one which was not cold. Heather, I credit your sleeping bag. Heather (English Heather, one i met here) made the best tent mate, much better than David who kept us all up with his snoring, but Bronagh suffered the most having to sleep next to him. Notice we let David do all the cooking.

Freemantle

I am currently residing down in Freemantle with Miles and Minnie. While down in Freemantle, I went down to the Round House which is the oldest building in Australia. Here, I saw them fire off a cannon to mark 1300!!!!

A trip to the mint

Well, I am worth my weight in gold. At least according to the scale at the mint. I like weighing myself on that scale. The tour was amazing as we saw a gold bar being poured, got to hold a gold brick. I went on the tour with Andrew and unfortunately no camera inside but a picture from the outside.

Cat Sitting

While I am in Perth, I am per sitting for accomadation. After roughing it in hostels for a few months, it has been wonderful to have my own space again! This is Miles and Minnie from my first sit.

It's been awhile

Hello!! I am back!! As pointed out both Kyle and Crystal it has been awhile since I have made a post. So, I am back. I am currently living and working in Perth (yes, this is a work holiday visa. Yes, I have thoroughly enjoyed the holiday part. Figured i should give the work part a try.) So, this first post is on my adventure to the Bell Tower. A magnificent engineering feat which houses the bells and can with stand the force as the bells are rung. One bell weighs 340 kgs. I EVEN GOT TO RING ONE!! The woman ringing the bells was an 80something and she was magnificent.
The view was that overlooking Perth and the Swan River.
